Wait for the day.

June 7, 2006

Daddy didn’t go to work today. / Truck wouldn’t start. / Rain wouldn’t go away.

Momma watched the soap operas some. / ‘Till the power went out. / And the water come.

Water took about everything. / Baby’s first tooth, wedding ring.

But Daddy said it’ll be okay. / Just sit on the roof / and wait for the day.

Lost my dogs, lost my fish / Live or dead, / Couldn’t tell which.

Fish could be swiming in Pontchartrain. / Called my dogs./ Dogs never came.

Daddy said it would be okay, / if we sit on the roof / and wait for the day.

Wait for the day-ay-ay. / Wait for the day.

Wait for the day-ay-ay. / Wait for the day.
